The WMD Skorpion is a unique and ambitious analog wavefolder that took over five years to develop and it shows. Built around an 8-stage folding core with macro animation and vectorized stereo output, it brings a whole new approach to shaping harmonics and adding dynamic movement to your signals.
At the surface, Skorpion gives you eight faders to manually set fold thresholds — a fast and tactile way to sculpt sound. But press the mode switch and those same faders become controls for target voltages or the module’s internal modulation architecture. No screens, no menus — just direct access to complex, rich signal processing.
At the heart of Skorpion lies a powerful macro envelope. One gate input can set off a cascade of internal modulation, animating eight internal threshold LFOs and four CV buses. These sources can be routed across folding parameters like slope, shape, shift, and more — allowing harmonic content to bloom, chatter, and shimmer with a single trigger.
A second vector core handles stereo output with a smart mid-side "WIDE" circuit, pushing high-frequency content out to the stereo field while anchoring your fundamental dead center. A subtle delay adds space and motion without clutter, and an anti-silence failsafe keeps the signal alive during quiet moments.
This is not just a wavefolder. It’s a self-contained modulation-rich instrument that reshapes what a wavefolder can be — ideal for anyone exploring deep harmonic textures, stereo design, or macro-level modulation systems.
