WMD Fracture – Multi-Particle Clap & Percussion Synthesizer

The Fracture by WMD is a unique digital percussion module specializing in clap synthesis, but capable of much more. Using a clever multi-particle system, Fracture assembles percussive textures from short micro-samples — claps, snaps, beer can pops, ping-pong balls — layering and sequencing them in pseudo-random order to create rich, ever-evolving rhythms.

Unlike traditional sample players, Fracture’s output changes with every trigger, making each hit slightly different and full of life. It’s not just a clap machine — it’s a full-blown percussion generator that can deliver ghost notes, accents, and randomized bursts to form entire grooves.

The Surface control lets you select between sample banks, while Spread, Decay, and Density adjust how the impulses behave — how many are triggered, how far apart they are, and how chaotic or tight the groove feels.

It features two trigger inputs:

• Trig: the main trigger input

• Tick: for ghost notes or added articulation
  Triggering both simultaneously produces an accented hit, mimicking performance-style dynamics.

Fracture also includes a frequency (tune) knob, a built-in reverb with two algorithms, and switchable filter/envelope shapes via Punch and Tail. In one mode, individual impulse samples are randomly fired — great for glitchy fills or standalone percussion sequences.

Nearly all parameters (except Punch and Tail) are CV-controllable, making Fracture highly responsive and ideal for live performance or intricate sequencing.
