Realistic Cymbal & Curved Metal Synthesizer

The WMD Crucible is an 8HP digital percussion module designed to synthesize realistic metallic acoustic sounds—including cymbals, gongs, cowbells, and metallic resonant strikes—without using audio samples. Built on physical modeling principles, it uses specially tuned digital delay networks and filter banks to simulate the vibrating characteristics of struck sheet metal in real time.

Crucible generates dynamic metallic percussion through three selectable physical models: Cymbal, Cracked Cymbal, and Curved Plate. Sonic parameters such as Size, Pitch, Tone, and Deform allow performers to morph a tiny cowbell into a massive resonant gong via manual knobs or control voltage. An Excite control alters the transient impact behavior—simulating changes in drumstick material and strike velocity.

The interface features dedicated Edge and Mid trigger inputs, enabling positional triggering across different areas of the virtual cymbal body. For tight rhythm integration and performance control, an onboard Choke gate input lets you instantly damp decaying tail rings. Additionally, an external audio input allows external sound sources to excite the internal resonant filter and delay matrix.
