WMD Crater – Analog-Digital Hybrid Kick Drum Module

The Crater by WMD is a hybrid bass drum module that fuses analog warmth with digital flexibility to deliver earth-shaking low end and sculptable character. Designed to hit hard and sit well in a mix, Crater brings the punch of classic drum machines into the modular world — with modern control and tonal versatility.

At its core, Crater uses an analog sine wave oscillator for body, paired with digital envelopes and noise shaping for added click and definition. The pitch can be tuned via the front panel or CV, and shaped dynamically with a dedicated pitch envelope (amount and decay controls). A second envelope — with decay and sustain — shapes the overall body of the kick.

For sharp attack transients, the click section offers adjustable Click Level, Click Timbre, and Click Decay. It’s ideal for dialing in anything from soft vintage kicks to sharp, modern thumps.

A built-in clipping stage offers three saturation modes, helping your kicks cut through dense mixes with analog-style grit. And for even more musical flexibility, Crater features a 1V/Oct input, allowing it to be played tonally — opening it up to tuned kicks and basslines.

With several CV-controllable parameters, Crater is not just a one-sound module — it’s a deep, expressive drum voice for live performance and studio production alike.
