WMD Clutch

Clutch from WMD is a purpose-built hi-hat module that gives you both precise control and organic groove in a compact Eurorack format. Designed around two sound layers, Clutch allows you to blend between a wide range of hi-hat tones, modulate parameters via CV, and inject dynamic feel into your rhythms.

Layer A draws from eight banks of user-loadable sample pairs (closed/open), all stored on the included memory card. It responds to CV over pitch, sample selection, and other parameters, making it highly flexible for sequencing and modulation. Layer B provides a bank of nine built-in digital sounds accessed purely via knobs and a switch, offering a solid, consistent sound base without CV control. Use the crossfader to blend between the two layers for hybrid textures.

The CV Disable switch lets you quickly kill modulation and return to knob-defined settings — ideal for performance resets. The Feel knob activates velocity-based groove patterns, with eight editable presets that mimic human dynamics.

Clutch includes three trigger inputs: Open, Closed, and Choke, with support for accented hits via simultaneous Open and Closed signals. There’s also a suite of onboard effects — from gritty distortion to glitchy chaos — plus high-pass and low-pass filters that are always active in the signal path.

With an intuitive layout, solid sound design features, and excellent modulation capabilities, Clutch is more than a hi-hat module. It’s a dynamic percussion engine ready for any modular system.
