WMD Chimera – Granular Metallic Percussion Synthesizer

The Chimera by WMD is a unique granular synthesis percussion module designed to deliver modern, metallic textures and dynamic rhythmic expression. Using short fragments of real-world recordings — from tambourines and sleigh bells to drill bits, coins, and chains — Chimera weaves them into textured, high-energy percussion sounds that feel both organic and futuristic.

At its core are 11 “surfaces”, each a curated metallic recording that can be morphed seamlessly with the turn of a knob. Grain density and pitch are adjustable across a wide range, while two internal envelopes shape the pitch and amplitude for responsive, customizable strikes. A multi-effects section adds further depth, with bit reduction, sample rate reduction, and a comb filter — all CV-controllable for live modulation.

The Trigger, Accent, and Choke inputs — plus a dedicated play button — give you intuitive performance control, while the Feel switch introduces evolving dynamics:

• Right: self-oscillating metallic drones for texture beds or FX layers
