The Whimsical Raps Atrium is a standalone, performance-oriented polyphonic analogue synthesizer featuring deep polytimbral control, interactive gestural surfaces, and a flexible internal modulation routing system.

The Atrium houses five discrete analogue synthesis voices designed to shift together or accept entirely independent polytimbral modulation. Each voice is shaped by its internal harmonic energy across three core timbre modes: a suboctave and noise configuration, a frequency modulation (FM) engine, and a reimagined formant synthesis circuit. The outputs are routed through dedicated low-pass gate (LPG) combinations, which mimic acoustic instrumentation by simultaneously adjusting amplitude and frequency response.

Rather than relying on digital multi-effects, the Atrium uses an entirely analogue, resonant processing block called "Spectre." Located at the core of the physical interface, this module combines three independent filters and two bucket-brigade device (BBD) delays inside an unstable feedback loop. The routing loops both the audio signal and the modulation profiles themselves, establishing generative, cybernetic sound systems.

The touch-based interface features capacitive multi-touch plates and mechanical keyswitches. Five distinct gesture recorders capture real-time multi-parameter variations, playing them back with adjustable time relationships, quantization styles, and speeds. An open modulation matrix allows any source to be mapped to any destination with custom depths. The internal architecture also includes multi-shape polyphonic LFOs that can be phase-shifted across individual voices. The Atrium includes five onboard patch slots for instant hardware recall and expands via USB, MIDI, and CV connections.
