The Verbos Electronics Haas Zone Processor is a multi-tap Eurorack module designed around psychoacoustic short delays, offering dynamic spatialization, chorus, flanging, waveshaping, and self-contained voice synthesis.
The Haas Zone Processor utilizes the psychoacoustic principles of ultra-short delays, first described by Helmut Haas in 1951, to manipulate spatial perception and sculpt complex acoustic timbres. At its core is a digital multi-tap delay bank featuring three individually accessible delay taps: Tap 1 (<1 ms to 20 ms), Tap 2 (+1–20 ms additional delay), and Tap 3 (9–42 ms). Each tap can be output as an independent signal or blended alongside the dry input using the onboard voltage-controlled dry/delay mixer.
To expand its sound design capabilities beyond simple Haas-effect doubling and spatial chorus/flanging, the module integrates a voltage-controlled bandpass filter with independent frequency and bandwidth parameters, alongside a wide-range VCO with triangle, square, and sawtooth waveforms that tracks at 1 V/octave. Intelligent internal normalization routes Tap 3 directly through the bandpass filter and back into the feedback loop, while an envelope follower and the internal VCO can modulate delay times. This feedback architecture transforms the module into a powerful waveshaper, comb resonator, or standalone physical-modeling synth voice.
