Verbos Electronics Amp & Tone 10HP

The Amp & Tone from Verbos Electronics is a characterful, all-analog combination of VCF and VCA, designed to bring natural, organic response and West Coast flavor to your Eurorack system.

Inspired by the beloved Amplitude & Tone Controller, this updated design swaps out vactrols for a discrete transistor-based circuit—preserving the module’s warm, dynamic response while reducing size and improving precision. It’s a modern take on the Buchla-style lowpass gate that simulates the natural decay of acoustic instruments by simultaneously shaping both amplitude and harmonic content.

On the left, the filter section offers a discrete Sallen-Key 12dB lowpass filter with a powerful input gain stage capable of adding rich analog drive. The resonance control takes it from subtle warmth to intense self-oscillation, allowing the module to be used as a tone shaper or even as a sine wave oscillator.

The right side houses the VCA, with both linear and exponential CV inputs. The exponential input is normalized to the filter’s frequency input, allowing for elegant and intuitive single-CV control over both tone and amplitude—ideal for expressive synthesis.
