Tobinski - Dynamics Compressor/Expander

Tobinski Dynamics is a versatile compressor/expander module designed for shaping percussive sounds but flexible enough for a wide range of dynamic processing tasks. Built with discrete transistor circuitry, it delivers smooth soft clipping when driven and uses feedforward detection for a punchy, modern response.

Its dedicated sub-bass enhancer includes a separate compression path that ducks transients to boost low-end weight without distorting peaks or overloading the output—ideal for adding mass to kicks and basslines. The three-band LCR EQ subtly shapes the sound at lower settings but introduces a distinctive, characterful edge as it’s pushed, offering both tonal refinement and saturation.

A harmonic exciter section adds controlled distortion to high frequencies, enhancing cymbal sheen or snare crack. Dynamics also offers external sidechain and envelope control, with individual inputs and outputs for the compressor/expander and EQ sections—allowing them to function together or independently in complex patches.
