The Ballista Blast Expander connects directly to the host via internal rear expander ports. The module features a switchable modulation engine that operates as either an LFO or a multi-stage envelope generator. It provides six internal routing destinations on the main unit, targeting parameters such as harmonics, emphasis, pitch, amplitude, and an assignable slot. The assignable destination allows for modulation of the Ballista Blast’s primary envelope or parameters on a secondary expander unit. Up to two expander modules can be connected simultaneously to a single Ballista Blast core.

In LFO mode, the module provides four waveform options: skewed ramps, symmetrical waves, sample-and-hold random voltages, and 8-step sequences. The LFO can run freely, slave to an external clock, or reset phase via external triggers. In envelope mode, the circuit can be configured for Attack-Release (AR), Attack-Decay (AD), or Attack-Sustain-Release (ASR) contours with selectable linear or exponential curves. All modulation settings, including depths, shapes, and routing assignments, are saved directly within the Ballista Blast’s internal preset memory for integrated recall.
