Neuzeit Instruments Quasar

Quasar by Neuzeit Instruments is Eurorack’s first binaural 3D audio processor—a revolutionary spatial mixer that lets you place and animate sound around your head in real-time using angle, height, and distance. This unique approach to mixing creates a fully immersive stereo field that goes far beyond traditional panning.

At its core, Quasar features two mono audio inputs, which can be routed freely to Position A, Position B, or Center, using an internal matrix. The POS A and B positions are spatialized using Neuzeit’s advanced binaural algorithm, simulating how sound interacts with your head and ears. The result: sounds appear to swirl around you in full 3D space—ideal for headphones, but also effective over speakers in a very different, expansive way.

Using CV control or manual encoders, you can modulate the position parameters (angle, elevation, distance) for fluid, evolving movement. You also get creative filtering tools: digital high-pass and low-pass filters allow you to send different frequency bands to different positions. For example, keep your bass in the Center for a grounded mix, while highs and mids dance through space via A and B.

Quasar also includes built-in reverb and stereo delay (3ms to 20s), which can be processed through the 3D spatial engine—making for lush, psychedelic echoes and expansive sound design.

Designed with playability in mind, the module features two large RGB LED-encircled encoders, a crisp OLED display, and flexible CV mapping—allowing multiple modulation destinations per CV input.
