The Mangrove shifts the focus of synthesis from traditional waveform manipulation to organic, instrument-like spectral structures. By separating the timbral "Formant" identity of a sound from its primary tracking pitch, the module allows waves to shift dynamically across a frequency spectrum to produce distinct subharmonics and microtonal undertones. At the border of these structural divisions, the oscillator exhibits volatile multiphonic tracking, enabling complex acoustic emulations and unstable dual-tones.

The core circuit features an integrated frequency modulation (FM) index path. When paired or cross-modulated, multiple units exhibit highly responsive complex oscillator behavior, running from phase-locked sync patterns to aggressive, snarling audio-rate modulation. Internal feedback routines allow for extensive self-patching, enabling users to direct divided formants back to frequency controls, or use raw square waves to modulate internal AIR pressure points. All post-2023 versions ship with the PPM break-out expander, a 2HP module that unlocks access to the oscillator's hidden internal routing points to encourage unique, patch-programmed modular systems.
