Make Noise QPAS

QPAS stands for Quad Peak Animated System — a name that describes it perfectly. It’s a quad-core stereo multimode filter from Make Noise, packed into just 18HP, and designed not only to shape sound but to animate it.

At its core, QPAS is an analog filter module with a unique twist: four filter cores, configured for stereo use, that can be shifted apart in frequency using the Radiate controls. With left and right channels modifiable independently, you can create rich, formant-style textures, vowel-like sweeps, and dynamic stereo animation unlike anything else in Eurorack.

Rather than giving you individual control over each filter, QPAS offers a streamlined interface:

• Freq (cutoff) and Q (resonance) affect all cores at once

• Radiate L/R spreads the peaks to give stereo movement and formant spacing

• Filter outputs include Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass, and the uniquely Make Noise-style Smile Pass (SP)

• Two mysterious !!¡¡ inputs allow pinging, triggering, or modulating the filter in unexpected ways using any kind of signal—LFOs, envelopes, audio-rate CV, gates, or bursts

There’s also a built-in stereo VCA before the filter stage—this lets you ping the filters like tuned percussion without cutting short the natural decay of the filter’s ringing resonance.

It’s not a vactrol-based design, so QPAS offers fast response, excellent for audio-rate modulation, and retains all the warmth and character of an analog signal path while inviting playful exploration. Whether you're after synthetic vowel sounds, pinged percussion, stereo drones, or bubbling modulation, QPAS is a playground of sonic animation.
