Instruō Pocket Scion

Pocket Scion is a standalone, battery-powered biofeedback synthesizer born from the collaboration between Instruō and Modern Biology. Based on the beloved Scion Eurorack module, Pocket Scion takes the concept of making music from plants and living organisms and transforms it into a portable, self-contained device — complete with its own sound engine, sensors, MIDI, and OSC support.

Attach the included bio-sensors to a plant, fungus, or even your own skin, and Pocket Scion converts subtle electrical impulses into control voltages, musical notes, and sound. It’s an inspiring and unpredictable way to generate melodies, modulation, or ambient textures directly from the living world.

Pocket Scion includes four internal synth engines designed to respond beautifully to these signals: Secret Garden, Fungal Waves, Treeboard’s Koto, and Soil Circuits. It also supports 5-note polyphony, scale quantization, ratcheting, and capacitive touch pads for hands-on control. Whether you're a total beginner or an experienced synthesist, it's an intuitive and playful tool that offers deep expressive potential.

Beyond its built-in sound capabilities, Pocket Scion integrates smoothly into larger setups with TRS MIDI (Type A), USB MIDI, and OSC (via a companion desktop app). That means you can use your plant's biofeedback to control synths, trigger events, or add modulation in a DAW or hardware rig.
