Eight related LFOs for dense, musical modulation in very little space
Øchd is a compact modulation source designed by DivKid and built by Instruo. It provides eight triangle based LFOs, all running freely but tuned to fixed musical relationships. A single global rate control sets the overall speed, while the relative motion between outputs stays consistent and predictable.
What makes Øchd unusual is how its shared CV input interacts with the individual outputs. Feeding one output back into the CV input, via the built-in inverting attenuator, reshapes each LFO differently. Some outputs become stepped and rounded, others behave more like rectified or asymmetrical waves, while a few stay closer to classic triangle motion. One patch point can turn a simple bank of LFOs into a varied modulation system.
In use, Øchd excels at feeding modulation hungry patches with coherent but non repetitive movement. It works well for animating filters, VCAs, wavefolders, and stereo effects without needing clocks or resets. With no dedicated sync input, the module encourages free running modulation, but you can force alignment by patching a gate into the CV input and turning the attenuator negative. When the gate goes high, all eight LFOs freeze, effectively acting as an eight channel track and hold.
Øchd fits easily into small systems and larger rigs alike. It prioritises immediacy and musical motion over precision timing, making it a strong choice for patches that need life, drift, and internal relationship rather than strict sync.
