The Tyme Sefari MKII heavily expands upon the architecture of the original lo-fi sampling powerhouse, delivering double the internal memory capacity and a significantly higher top sampling frequency. This module records incoming audio with a gritty, characterful 8-bit resolution while utilizing clean 16-bit internal processing to eliminate unwanted clicking artifacts during active loop transitions.

By default, the engine loops the entire captured audio buffer, but toggling the dedicated loop switch hands control over to two front-panel sliders. These sliders let you manually sculpt or voltage-control the loop start and end points in real time. If you modulate the loop end point so that it sits before the start point, the playback engine encounters a phase inversion that yields chaotic, unpredictable digital artifacts. You can trigger playback direction, recording states, and looping gates instantly via automated 0-5V control voltages or tactile faceplate switches.

When you engage the recording and playback paths simultaneously, the module morphs into a performance-oriented digital delay system. In this mode, the sampling frequency knob dictates your overall delay time, while the feedback circuit introduces positive or negative saturation via a toggle switch. The integrated Tap Tempo section lets you sync your echoes manually or via external clock gates, freeing you from manual timing calibration while temporarily prioritizing fixed timing over the loop sliders.
