Industrial Music Electronics Hertz Donut MKIII
A dual-operator phase distortion and thru-zero FM oscillator built for harsh industrial tones and morphing digital textures.
The Hertz Donut MKIII generates complex, metallic timbres that mirror the acoustic properties of heavy machinery. At its core, the module combines a main digital oscillator with two sinusoidal modulation operators and an external audio input, allowing you to build intricate FM algorithms without a forest of patch cables.
You can deform the primary waveform using three distinct processing styles: a resonant peak phase distortion, the classic Hertz Donut fractal distortion, and a wavefolder. The main panel gives you a flexible routing knob and CV input that you can freely assign to any of these three distortion parameters on the fly. To thicken the texture, you can engage a unison mode that stacks detuned copies of the waveform, while the integrated 4x3 digital matrix mixer handles complex internal modulation routing with a single master amount control.
The module eliminates the traditional static nature of digital synthesis via an eight-slot preset manager. You can manually jump between these slots, trigger them with control voltages, or enter Morphing Mode to smoothly crossfade all panel settings from one saved state to another. The sharp OLED display tracks your frequency, active notes, and matrix settings in real time, keeping your workflow fast and visual during live performance.
