Magnolia is Frap Tools' bold entrance into the world of full-sized synthesizers — and what a debut! With its creamy white chassis, eight-voice analog architecture, and expressive control surface, Magnolia merges East and West Coast synthesis philosophies into something completely new.

Each voice features two analog oscillators: a “West Coast” core inspired by Brenso with through-zero FM, wavefolding, and sync — and a classic “East Coast” style VCO with PWM and harmonic depth. These aren’t soft or restrained voices — they can shimmer with metallic complexity or ground themselves in rich analog warmth, all within the same chord.

Filtering is handled by dual Cunsa-style filters per voice, with resonant high- and low-pass stages and linear FM, allowing the filters themselves to sing. Three shapeable LFOs, loopable envelopes, analog distortion, and digital stereo effects (delay, chorus, more) round out a powerful sound engine.

The Fatar keybed with polyphonic aftertouch makes every note feel expressive and alive. A new “Polymove” engine adds randomized voice-by-voice modulation for evolving textures and lifelike variation — without ever diving into a screen. Modulation is intuitive: press a button, turn a knob, and you’re done.

Add tempo-syncable arpeggiation, patch morphing, splits, unison, and chord modes — and you’ve got a serious modern analog polysynth that bridges complexity with immediacy. The Frap Tools Magnolia is truly something else.
