16-Voice Multi-Engine FM Synthesizer & 16-Track Sequencer

The Elektron Digitone II is an expanded 16-voice, 16-track digital synthesizer and performance sequencer that builds on Elektron’s signature FM synthesis platform. Fusing classic multi-operator FM with wave morphing, detuned supersaw structures, and specialized drum synthesis, it delivers immense timbral range within a compact desktop form factor.

At the core of the Digitone II are four distinct synthesis engines: FM Tone (traditional multi-operator FM), Wavetone (dual-oscillator morphing with phase distortion), Swarmer (layered, detuned multi-waveform supersaws), and FM Drum (optimized for percussive transients and metallic sound design). Each engine feeds into an expanded filter section offering six selectable filter topologies, including Multi-Mode, Comb, and EQ variants, complemented by per-voice digital overdrive and bit reduction.

The instrument’s 128-step polyphonic sequencer manages up to 16 tracks with flexible 16-voice dynamic allocation. Sequencer features include parameter locks, probability triggers, dual pulse generators, micro-timing, and an integrated Euclidean pattern generator. Modulation is driven by three assignable LFOs per voice, alongside per-track arpeggiators and a 36-scale keyboard mode. Spatial and dynamic processing are provided by built-in Delay, Reverb, and Chorus send effects, alongside a master compressor with sidechain functionality.
