Doepfer A-184-2 Sine Converter / VC Crossfader

The Doepfer A-184-2 is a dual-function utility module with two distinct analog tools: a precision sine shaper and a voltage-controlled crossfader based on premium SSM VCAs.

Up top is a triangle-to-sine wave curve converter — perfect for expanding VCOs lacking sine outputs or improving imperfect ones. It delivers impressively pure sine waves with minimal distortion, making it ideal for tone-focused synthesis or FM work.

The bottom half features a VC crossfader designed primarily for audio. Using quality SSM2164 chips, it smoothly blends between two input signals either manually via the CF knob or under CV control. Each input has its own LED level indicator, and input A is conveniently normalled to the sine shaper’s output — so you can use the full module as a standalone oscillator processor with morphing sine-to-whatever blends.

As with many Doepfer tools, the A-184-2 is compact, precise, and super useful in everyday patching — whether you’re shaping tones or animating between signals.
