Doepfer A-178 Theremin Control Voltage Source

The Doepfer A-178 is a Theremin-style controller module that produces a variable control voltage by sensing the distance between your hand and its antenna. As you move your hand closer or further away, the module outputs a continuously changing CV—perfect for expressive modulation of pitch, filter cutoff, or other parameters.

In addition to the CV output, the A-178 also generates a gate signal when the CV exceeds a user-defined threshold. This makes it possible to trigger events or envelopes based on hand movement alone.

To fully emulate a traditional Theremin setup, two A-178 modules can be used in tandem: one to control pitch, and one to control volume.
