Doepfer A-156 Dual Quantizer

The Doepfer A-156 is a dual-channel quantizer designed to transform continuous control voltages into precise, pitch-accurate stepped values. With a standard 1V/oct scaling and semitone resolution (1/12V), it’s ideal for tuning sequences or taming modulation sources like envelopes, noise, or random voltages.

The lower section offers a selection of musical scales including major, minor, chords, fifths, and optional sixth or seventh intervals, all easily switchable via front-panel toggles. The upper section is chromatic by default, but can be internally configured to mirror the lower section’s scale selection if desired.

The A-156 quantizes continuously but includes a trigger input to sync quantization to clock or gate signals—perfect for rhythmically stepping through voltages in time with your patch. A trigger output fires each time a new quantized value is produced, and a transpose input lets you shift both channels together using an external CV.
