The Doepfer A-155-3 packs an intuitive eight-step sequencing engine into a space-saving 1U footprint. Each step features a dedicated CV knob for setting output voltages alongside an illuminated backlit button for instant gate toggling and step status monitoring. Behind its clean front panel, a hidden sub-menu system accessed via the Program switch opens up sub-step ratcheting (x2, x3, x4 subdivisions), custom pattern lengths, and dynamic playback directions including pendulum and random modes.

Designed for tactile pattern generation, the module runs on external clock signals, generating gate lengths that directly mirror the incoming pulse width. It includes manual and CV-driven reset inputs for syncing with external sequencers or creating asymmetrical, shifting loop lengths. Up to eight complete sequences can be saved to internal memory slots, giving you instant pattern recall during live performances. While the main CV output remains unquantized for raw frequency, offset, or filter control, an internal MIDI output header allows connection to compatible MIDI-to-CV modules like the A-190-9 for precise quantized pitch control.
