The Doepfer A-124 Wasp Filter (Black Special Edition) brings the raw and unruly spirit of the original EDP Wasp into Eurorack format, now with a striking black-and-yellow design that nods to its late-’70s heritage.
This 12 dB/oct multimode filter uses a unique circuit that replaces traditional op-amps with CMOS inverters—an intentional misuse that results in the A-124’s distinctive, gritty tone. The resonance is unstable and unpredictable, never reaching full self-oscillation, but always on the verge of tearing your signal apart. At high input levels, it becomes distorted and wild, making it perfect for aggressive patches and sonic mayhem.
The A-124 provides a dedicated bandpass output, as well as a mixed output that continuously blends between lowpass, notch, and highpass modes via the Mix knob. Push the input gain to drive the circuit and squeeze even more character from your sound.
A filter for those who like things rough around the edges—gritty, unpredictable, and full of charm.
