Rachael by Black Corporation is a multi-functional ring modulator, VCO/LFO, and ADSR envelope inspired by the legendary Yamaha CS-80, designed as the perfect companion to Deckard’s Voice — but equally powerful as a standalone module.
Far more capable than the original CS-80 ring modulator (which featured only an AD envelope and no CV control), Rachael delivers flexible modulation and audio processing in 14HP, with full patch control and high-quality analog circuitry.
The core of Rachael is a VCO/LFO offering sine, CS-80-style sawtooth, and pulse waveforms, which can operate well into audio-rate. This oscillator is normalled to the reference input of the ring modulator but is also available as an independent sound or modulation source.
The analog ring modulator accepts external signals, either with Rachael’s internal oscillator or a second external source. It’s capable of warm vintage modulation tones or more aggressive textures depending on depth and source.
A fully patchable ADSR envelope generator with individual CV inputs for each stage (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) gives precise control over dynamics. The modulation depth of the ring modulator is also CV controllable, offering fine-grained control over timbral shifts.
Whether paired with Deckard’s Voice or dropped into any Eurorack system, Rachael adds unique analog charm and Blade Runner-style textures.
Key Features:
• Analog ring modulator inspired by the CS-80
• Designed to complement Deckard’s Voice, but works standalone
• VCO/LFO with sine, CSaw, and pulse waveforms
• VCO normalized to ring modulator reference input
• Full ADSR envelope generator
• CV inputs for each envelope stage (A, D, S, R)
• CV-controllable modulation depth
• Great for vintage-style modulation and experimental textures
• Available in-store for demo
