IROI delivers an expansive digital signal-processing environment designed to transform dry sound sources into dense, animated environments. The hardware accepts both true stereo configurations and single mono patches, with the mono input automatically normalizing across the stereo field. This allows you to process basic analog oscillators or complex field recordings through the exact same high-headroom effects topology.

The structural workflow provides a distinct advantage over fixed-architecture multi-effects units due to its movable routing topology. The primary stage consists of a flexible multimode filter—offering low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, and metallic comb filter modes—paired with a digital VCA. Using the panel controls, you can dynamically shift this entire filter/VCA block to different insertion points within the digital signal chain. Placing the filter first allows you to sculpt the raw input before it excites the spatial processors; placing it at the end of the chain lets you tame wild delay feedback or apply sweeping resonant modulations to the entire wet mix.

Following the filter stage, the signal meets an acoustic three-band resonator that extracts distinct harmonic overtones from your audio. From there, a dual-tap echo and an expansive ambience engine handle spatial duties, pushing your sounds from simple widening effects into vast, evolving reverberations. An internal modulation matrix manages movement across these parameters, backed by a dedicated global randomizer. The randomization system includes an essential undo/redo safety buffer, allowing you to instantly roll back accidental parameter overwrites during live performance.
