The I4- Instrument Interface provides a clean utility bridge between external instruments and your modular system. The front panel features a Neutrik combo jack that accepts balanced XLR or quarter-inch inputs, eliminating the need for external adapters or standalone preamps when patching a vocal mic, guitar, or drum machine directly into your rack.

When you plug in a source, the onboard preamplification circuit drives the signal up to modular levels with minimal harmonic distortion. A dedicated phantom power switch handles studio condenser microphones, while a three-way impedance selector ensures proper signal matching for high-Z guitar pickups or standard line gear. You can monitor the boosted signal via the onboard LED VU meter to keep your peaks right at +/-5V.

Beyond serving as a standard input stage, the module acts as an analytical tool for your patch. The internal envelope follower tracks the dynamic volume changes of your playing, translating your physical expression into positive and negative CV. Concurrently, the gate and trigger extractor monitors the signal transients based on a manual threshold setting. This setup allows you to trigger envelope generators, clock sequencers, or ping filters simply by tapping your guitar strings or speaking into a microphone.
