Arturia - Keystep MK2

KeyStep mk2 is a 32-key controller and sequencer built to sit at the center of mixed setups. It speaks CV, MIDI, USB, and sync without adapters or menu diving. You can move between Eurorack, hardware synths, and a DAW and keep the same workflow intact.

The update focuses on sequencing and hands-on transformation. A polyphonic step sequencer records unquantized playing and chains patterns for building longer ideas as you go. An expanded arpeggiator adds generative motion that stays musical instead of random. The OLED display and clickable encoder keep editing direct and visible, so you spend less time guessing and more time playing.

In use, it feels immediate. You can capture a phrase, reshape it with Mutate, then push it further with Spice and Dice without stopping playback. Scale and Chord modes help lock ideas into harmonic lanes when needed. Touch strips handle pitch and modulation without eating panel space.

In a system, it works as a small but capable hub. Four CV outputs handle pitch, gate, and modulation duties for modular rigs. MIDI and sync ports keep drum machines and vintage gear tight. The small keyboard limits range, but it encourages focused lines and quick setups, especially for live use or travel.
