AJH Synth-Minimod Dual Contour EG(Black)

Two discrete Minimoog style envelope generators with authentic retrigger behaviour and selectable AD or ADSD modes.

The MiniMod Dual Contour EG Black brings two independent Minimoog envelope generators into a single Eurorack module. AJH kept the design faithful to the original transistor based circuits, including internal operating voltages and response characteristics.

Each envelope follows the classic Minimoog structure: Attack, Decay and Sustain, with a switchable release stage. In practice, this means you can run each side as a simple AD envelope or as an ADSD, where the release time mirrors the decay setting. It behaves exactly like the original keyboard contours, so patches respond with the same punch and weight.

One of the defining traits is the retrigger behaviour. These envelopes do not reset to zero volts when retriggered. Instead, they restart from the current voltage level. With longer decay settings and repeated triggering, the peak level can climb progressively higher, up to around 10.5 volts. This creates a naturally compressing, slightly swelling response that feels alive under fast playing or sequenced passages.

The output level and curve suit linear VCAs, just like in the original Minimoog architecture. When paired with a transistor based VCA, you get the familiar snap on short attacks and the rounded contour on longer settings.

Manual trigger buttons on the panel make testing and performance straightforward. You can fire envelopes without an external gate, useful for tuning modulation depth or adding accents on the fly.

For a vintage correct mono voice, this module completes the chain. In a broader system, it offers two characterful envelopes with behaviour that stands apart from typical modern designs.
