The íre is designed to bridge the gap between acoustic sound sources and modular signal levels with zero compromise. It features two distinct preamplification paths: a high-quality transformer-coupled input specifically tuned for microphones and a tube-like FET preamp for instruments and line-level signals. Whether you are capturing delicate vocal nuances with the 48V phantom power engaged or driving an electric guitar into warm, saturated FET territory, the íre provides the gain staging necessary to make external audio feel like a native part of your patch.
Beyond simple amplification, the íre acts as a bridge for control logic. An integrated envelope follower tracks the amplitude of your incoming audio, while a built-in comparator generates gates and triggers based on your signal's peaks. This allows a vocalist or instrumentalist to physically "conduct" the modular system, using their volume and phrasing to open filters, trigger envelopes, or clock sequencers. With an 80Hz high-pass filter to eliminate stage rumble and individual gain/level controls, the íre is as much a performance tool as it is a utility interface.
